A New Spiritual Home Opens at Hogar Niños de Dios in the Dominican Republic

On May 2, 2026, the Mustard Seed Communities family in the Dominican Republic gathered in celebration for the inauguration of Our Lady of Good Counsel Chapel at Hogar Niños de Dios in Canca La Reina, Moca.

Watch a detailed recap of the event:

The new Catholic chapel at Hogar Niños de Dios marks a deeply meaningful moment for the residents and staff of MSC’s newest home for children and adults living with disabilities.

Created as a place of prayer and peace, the chapel will offer spiritual support, comfort, and hope to the community.

MSC’s mission is deeply rooted in the Catholic faith, centered around the love of Jesus Christ, and dedicated to caring for the most vulnerable members of society through homes, outreach programs, and holistic compassionate care.

This milestone comes nearly ten years after MSC opened its first chapel in the Dominican Republic, Our Lady of Grace Chapel at Hogar Immanuel in Puerto Plata.

During the dedication ceremony, special thanks were shared for founder Monsignor Gregory Ramkissoon, whose lifelong commitment to serving children and adults on the margins of society helped establish the mission of MSC in the Dominican Republic more than 25 years ago.

The community was honored by the presence of Monsignor Héctor Rafael Rodríguez, who offered his blessing and support during the celebration.

Gratitude was extended to Monsignor Julio César Corniel and Father Juan Pablo Jiménez for their continued guidance and care for the community.

The event celebrated the unwavering generosity and faith that continue to sustain Hogar Niños de Dios and Hogar Immanuel. Through the support of volunteers, donors, medical professionals, and neighbors throughout the Santiago region, the homes provide outstanding dignity, care, and opportunity to children and adults with disabilities and complex medical needs.

As the doors of Our Lady of Good Counsel Chapel open to the community, we pray this sacred space will remain a symbol of faith, unity, and God’s love for all who gather there.
