Where We Serve

Established in 1978 on the outskirts of Kingston, Jamaica, Mustard Seed Communities (MSC) originated as a home and school for abandoned children. Today, MSC extends its reach across various countries, providing residential care to over 600 individuals with disabilities, over 100 children impacted by HIV, and supporting young mothers in crisis.

Through community outreach programs in Jamaica, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, Zimbabwe, and Malawi, MSC addresses poverty, malnutrition, and delivers targeted education. Guided by the principles of Caring, Sharing, and Training each home aims to create a nurturing environment for residents’ holistic development while uplifting and empowering surrounding communities.

Founded in Jamaica in 1978, Mustard Seed Communities has been providing residential care to over 400 vulnerable individuals in 11 homes across the country. These homes cater to children and adults with disabilities, children affected by HIV, and young mothers in crisis. Initiatives like the pottery shop and apprentice program seek to break the cycle of poverty, while the Little Angels Learning Centers focus on providing quality early childhood education to empower young Jamaicans for future success.

In 2001, Mustard Seed Communities extended its care services to the Dominican Republic, creating the third international location dedicated to supporting children with disabilities. The organization acquired property in the town of Cangrejo, near Puerto Plata, to build Hogar Immanuel—a home specifically designed for children with disabilities. Beyond residential care, MSC Dominican Republic actively engages in community development and outreach, offering jobs, training, and nutrition programs to enhance the well-being of the local community.

In 1999, Mustard Seed Communities expanded its comprehensive care services beyond Jamaica to Nicaragua, initially establishing a residential care facility near Managua. Over time, we further extended our impact by adding a second home for young adults with disabilities in Diriamba. Today, MSC Nicaragua cares for over 70 individuals with disabilities and runs the Christ in the Garbage Ministries program, addressing food insecurity by distributing food packages and empowering women in impoverished areas through vocational skills training at the Resource Center.

Community Outreach

Mustard Seed Communities established its presence in Zimbabwe in 2002 to address the immediate need of caring for children affected by HIV, including those orphaned by the disease or born HIV-positive. Since its inception, MSC Zimbabwe has evolved to serve children and families in Bulawayo, the second-largest city in Zimbabwe. We currently operate three residential care facilities for children with disabilities and those affected by HIV, providing a home for over 40 children. Additionally, MSC Zimbabwe manages five nutrition programs that feed up to 1,200 children daily.
