Giovanni is such a special part of our family at Sophie’s Place. Watching him grow brings us so much joy.
Even though living with cerebral palsy and epilepsy is challenging,
He is one of “our special babies,” Shantel shares. “He is a baby that needs more attention, so we have to show him a lot of attention. We have to put a smile on his face.”
“We are their mother, their father, everything to them. So we have to show them the love that they need.”
This year, Giovanni was in and out of the hospital to receive critical care addressing his disability. Our Sophie’s Place caregiving team ensured his medical needs were fully met so that he could continue living comfortably and surrounded by love. When Giovanni came home after a long hospital stay, he returned to comfort and the fierce belief from his caregivers that he’s on the road to full recovery.

We bring Giovanni into the fold of our close-knit community with gratitude. He loves the music of circle time, being gently held, and welcoming new friends with his sweet presence when mission volunteers stay here with us. Giovanni is truly a gift and we are humbled to be part of his story.
