Fostering resilience in vulnerable communities is woven into every aspect of our mission.
By offering free basic education and hot nutritious meals, we provide children and vulnerable families with the essential support and stability they need to build a bright future. Our residential care facility strengthens this resilience by creating a safe and nurturing environment where children living with disabilities who have been abandoned can thrive, learn, and develop to their full potential. Together, these initiatives empower individuals to rise above their limitations, foster hope, and promote sustainable growth within our community.
Our organization has been serving Zimbabwe’s vulnerable populations for over 23 years, making a lasting impact. Inclusivity and diversity are the hallmarks of our organizational culture: MSC Zimbabwe is made up of staff and volunteers from various backgrounds working together in harmony. Every smile, hug, and word of encouragement from those we serve reminds us of why we do this important work.
One volunteer at Generosity Home in Bulawayo, Nkosinothando Dewa, shares a moment that, to her, illustrated our commitment to hope and resilience in real time.

“Recently, I visited Generosity, one of MSC Zimbabwe’s campuses dedicated to caring for children with disabilities, and experienced a moment that deeply touched my heart.
A child had a seizure.
While I have witnessed seizures before in my work, today I was up close. In that instant, my heart stopped. I was overwhelmed with a rush of emotions—shock, concern, and a profound realization of how delicate life truly is. I stood frozen as MSC’s house mother, Gogo Lucan, swiftly rushed to the child’s side, taking every necessary precaution to ensure her safety.
As I watched the young girl being taken care of so tenderly, I couldn’t help but wonder about the resilience of these children. Living each day with the knowledge that one wrong move could trigger another seizure, or worse, threaten their lives—how do they do it? Their strength and courage are nothing short of extraordinary.

At that moment, I was struck by how often we overlook our own health and freedom—luxuries not afforded to everyone. There is so much to be grateful for.
Our MSC homes are a living testament to resilience: these are beautiful spaces filled with children who are differently-abled. Each one of them is like a flower in a garden, blooming in their own unique way with a different scent but all equally beautiful.
This experience was a reminder of how precious life is and the importance of gratitude. Every child reminds me that resilience and hope flourish even in the face of adversity. Together, we continue to nurture this garden of love, compassion, and support, making a difference—
