Bianca’s Invitation to Say Hello at Hogar Immanuel

Bianca is a young girl living with a disability in the Dominican Republic

In the shady pavilion at Hogar Immanuel, the day begins with sweet greetings.

Residents laugh together, reach out for hugs from caregivers, and share the warmth of another day.

Bianca has her own special way of saying hello.

First, Bianca introduces herself with a big smile. She reaches out, takes your hand in hers, and begins to clap. Soon you are clapping together, sharing a joyful rhythm that turns an ordinary moment into a celebration.

Bianca reaches up to grasp the hands of a mission volunteer, inviting her in for a hug.

Bianca has been a treasured member of the Hogar Immanuel community since she was a toddler.

Today, you might find her rolling through campus in her wheelchair or practicing moving independently with her walker. She also looks forward to her favorite outings to the beach or floats in the therapy pool.

Playing with toys in the activity space at Hogar Immanuel, Bianca shares a smile.

In the joyful sound of applause from Bianca, a community is built. One-on-one, Bianca assures every person that they are seen and loved. Moments with her remind us that connection doesn’t always need words. Bianca finds it with a look and a moment of true presence.

“Bianca has grown so much over the years and continues to amaze us with her strength and resilience,” shares Anne Gilbert, Administrator of MSC Dominican Republic.

She is a sweet, smart, and loving girl who brings so much joy to everyone around her. Her smile, determination, and gentle spirit make her truly special.

At Mustard Seed Communities, every resident brings unique gifts that strengthen the community around them. Bianca’s gift is her joyful invitation to celebrate each new day together.

Because of Bianca, moments of connection happen every day. In her presence, we are reminded that every person is someone to celebrate.

Every resident’s unique spirit empowers our community to be even better at sharing joy and respect.
