A Song for You From Joevan

“Can I sing a lovely song for you?” Joevan asks.

With a message to share with Farnoosh, his friend and longtime MSC supporter, he begins to sing.

The lyrics are simple and greatly empowering, no matter who you are:

You are a promise.
You are a possibility.
You are a promise with a capital P.
You are a great big bundle of potentiality.

For Joevan, a young man living at My Father’s House in Jamaica, singing is a key to connection. It is an avenue to share his deep, thoughtful personality and a profound way to express his perspective with those around him.

Music unifies people across differences, and Joevan intrinsically knows this. When he sings, he’s connecting and participating in the community he calls home, sharing a gift that is distinctly his with those around him. In this song, he offers us a message about the love and value he recognizes in every person he meets.

Dignity, Seen and Heard

Sharing everyday moments like this one at My Father’s House is part of how we honor the individuality—the unbreakable love and value––of every person who calls Mustard Seed home.

There is power in making space for every person to be seen and heard on their own terms, with their own stories, gifts, and voices leading the way.

Joevan’s voice deserves to be heard simply because it is his. And we’re grateful he chose to share it with us.
