For residents of Mustard Seed Communities, education creates opportunities to learn, grow, and discover new ways to share their gifts with the world. It’s a pathway to thriving.
This school year, residents across MSC around the world pursued their own paths to learning and growth.
Some residents attended neighborhood schools, others learned in specialized classrooms, and others discovered the world through sensory play and individualized support.
We believe that every person deserves the opportunity to learn, belong, and grow within a community that recognizes their gifts. So, these are the communities we create.
We’re proud to share how Jerry and Yasanya excelled in their learning this year.
Jerry’s Standout Year at Moneague Primary School
When Jerry arrived at Jacob’s Ladder from Haiti two years ago, he embraced starting over in a new country in an extraordinary way.
Adjusting to life in Jamaica meant navigating a new language, a new school, and a new community — but Jerry approached each challenge as an opportunity. He began attending Moneague Primary School alongside several other MSC residents, and it wasn’t long before he became known throughout the school for his determination.
“I remember when Jerry arrived in Port Antonio after three days at sea,” shares Cordell Huie, Administrator at Jacob’s Ladder. “He captivated so many hearts with his talent, dedication, and spirit.”
“Two years later, he carries himself with an easy, natural confidence that commands the room. Unfazed by obstacles, he tackles every new challenge with infectious enthusiasm.”
In July 2026, that determination earned Jerry four special honors:
- Certificate of Proficiency in two subjects on the Ministry of Education’s PEP Exams
- Most Improved in Mathematics
- Most Improved Student, earning a book voucher
- Outstanding Athlete, recognized as the school’s top footballer
Next year, Jerry looks forward to starting high school.
With the continuous love, strength, and support of his incredible MSC family, we know this is just the beginning for Jerry.

Yasanya’s Journey to Graduation
For Yasanya, a resident at My Father’s House in Kingston, Jamaica, school offered something every student deserves: a place where she could be fully herself.
Yasanya is a very social person, and she has made impressive improvements in her speech and language skills. At school, she found teachers and classmates who recognized her gifts, particularly in math class.
On July 3, 2026, Yasanya graduated from school with incredible joy.
Earning the Communication Champion Certificate of Achievement, she celebrated the milestone surrounded by her My Father’s House family. It was a treasured moment to reflect on years of growth and perseverance with pride.

What does it mean to have the opportunity to thrive?
It means being welcomed, supported, and encouraged to become who you are.
For Jerry, that meant discovering his strengths in the classroom and on the football field. For Yasanya, it meant finding a place where her voice was recognized and her accomplishments celebrated.
The opportunity to thrive is for everyone. We are incredibly proud of Jerry, Yasanya, and every resident whose unique gifts continue to strengthen the Mustard Seed Communities family.
