Jamaica — Spring 2025
When a mission bus broke down en route to Jacob’s Ladder, one of Mustard Seed Communities’ residential care homes in Jamaica, a team of spirited volunteers from Northern Kentucky didn’t hesitate—they jumped out and pushed.
Every year, volunteers from across the world travel to serve Mustard Seed Communities with love, humility, and heart. This moment was just one small example of their dedication—but it also highlighted a big need.
That very bus—essential for transporting mission teams and providing access to medical appointments and community connections for residents with disabilities—has reached the end of its road.
Now, Mustard Seed is raising $105,000 to purchase a new bus.
“The mission bus is more than transportation—it’s a lifeline,” said Catherine Baten, Director of Development. “Without it, getting to those who need us most becomes even harder.”
Jacob’s Ladder is home to dozens of adults with disabilities who rely on the bus for everything from doctor’s appointments to spiritual outings. Equally important, it brings mission volunteers—like those from Northern Kentucky—who provide hands-on service and build relationships that last a lifetime.
The campaign to replace the bus has already inspired many. Supporters are encouraged to join the effort and give what they can to help MSC continue moving forward—literally and figuratively.
