Kereisa

February, 2023

Kereisa arrived at Sophie’s Place in Jamaica with little hope: as a toddler with Rett Syndrome, she was unable to walk and needed critical care and shelter.

Sophie's Place caregivers describe Kereisa as a "bubbly child who enjoys her own company".  The staff has been inspired by her sweet personality and her willingness to keep trying!

Over the years, Kereisa’s intensive physical therapy plan — including leg casts and splints — resulted in remarkable increases in strength and mobility. With attentive medical treatment, the safe feeling of belonging, and love poured out by Mustard Seed caregivers and supporters, Kereisa is now walking!

Watch this short clip to experience the joy of Kereisa's newfound mobility as she tries out her new shoes!
