This trip is 100% dedicated to engaging with the residents and I was able to see that from sunrise to sunset each day.

I, along with other classmates, was given the opportunity to travel to Moneague, Jamaica this past week for a Study Abroad Level I Fieldwork experience through our wonderful program! As someone that has never been out of the country, I was a bit nervous, but also very excited to combine my love for OT with an international fieldwork!
Within the first day, all of my nerves completely disappeared and it was pure love and enjoyment for the rest of the week. Jamaica granted me with unimaginable opportunities to feed residents, perform transfers, implement activities developed by my small group, have meaningful conversations with verbal and non-verbal residents, and provided so much room for growth within myself and cohort.
This trip is 100% dedicated to engaging with the residents and I was able to see that from sunrise to sunset each day. I’m not surprised that I completely lost my heart while there because each resident had a way of stealing it. I’m so blessed to have been apart of this trip and will carry the knowledge and sweet dance moves learned forward into my career as an OT!
