My week at Mustard Seed Jamaica was one of the most rewarding opportunities of my entire life.
My week at Mustard Seed Jamaica was one of the most rewarding opportunities of my entire life. It has always been on my bucket list to go on a mission trip and I fell in love with the experience. As a student of Salve Regina University, our mission statement states that “In keeping with the traditions of the Sisters of Mercy and recognizing that all people are stewards of God’s creation, the University encourages students to work for a world that is harmonious, just, and merciful.” The residents of Mustard Seed are of the utmost beauty of God’s creation. They are incredibly special in the most beautiful way. Each and every one of the residents have a contagious joy about them. There was so much of it when we were around the residents and all of the staff at Mustard Seed.
This week really drove home the fact little victories and the small moments are the ones that matter and the ones that bring so much joy. From taking silly selfies with residents during water breaks, to singing songs and doing crazy dances with the residents, even nature walks with Daniella on her day off from school create the memories that we hold on to. I cannot be more thankful for this new appreciation of life and the importance of cherishing the little moments as they have the biggest impact.
