Planting Seeds of Nutrition
At Mustard Seed Communities, we feed over 1,200 children, teen moms, and elderly people every day. Children in impoverished regions in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe struggle to find enough to eat: we serve them daily hot meals. Once the basic survival need of food is met, children are empowered to attend school at one of our early education programs and contribute back to their community.
Thando* is a single mother of ten children living at Ngozi Mine, a garbage dump in Bulawayo City where over a thousand people live in food insecurity with no health facilities, proper clothing, or access to education.
Since Mustard Seed established a nutrition program on the site in 2016, Thando and her children have been able to eat a hot meal every day. They make up some of the 1,200 people served in MSC Zimbabwe’s nutrition programs every day.
