Two young women have joined the Mustard Seed family at Hogar Belen Diriamba. Ruby is 17 years old and Iris is 22 years old. They came to Mustard Seed after a home where they had been living was closed.
Hogar Belen Diriamba is one of two MSC homes in Nicaragua. HBD currently accommodates 46 residents in both cottage-style living for semi-independent residents as well as dorm-style housing for those who need more care.
Hogar Belen Diriamba is located on three acres of land and is the site for MSC Nicaragua’s sustainable agriculture program. The regional crops that are grown and the broiler chickens contribute to the nutritional needs of both MSC homes. In addition to the nutritional benefits of onsite farming, the sustainable agriculture initiative also provides a degree of empowerment and responsibility for the residents, who have been involved in various stages of the sustainable agriculture program from clearing land to planting and harvesting vegetables.
The staff and residents of Hogar Belen Diriamba welcome Ruby and Iris to their wonderful new home!
