MSC Africa's Leader Started as a Youth Volunteer

You are here

Taka Promise, Administrator of MSC Zimbabwe and Malawi

Taka became involved with MSC in 2004 as a youth volunteer at the nutrition program in Pumula where 170 children are fed each day. Before joining MSC, Taka's ambition was to study computer science, but he also always had the drive to serve others and didn’t quite know how to make a career out of it. He described how MSC has given him the opportunity to do this. "I always want to create developmental opportunities for others and promote human dignity from a multicultural perspective," he said.

For the past 10 years, Taka has been the Administrator of MSC Zimbabwe. His position requires everyone to be in tune with the vision and mission of MSC. He describes his responsibilities as ensuring that staff and volunteers receive training and development opportunities, managing the budget, networking with stakeholders, and keeping the Executive Director and Board of Advisors updated.

"There is a lot of joy in caring for the most vulnerable and this has taught me to be grateful for all the blessings and opportunities I have," Taka said. "My world view has been positively transformed beyond measure, my network and professional development have grown tremendously over the years. I have grown from a simple youth volunteer with nothing to do, to a full-fledged leader with professional qualifications in information technology, administration and strategic management. I am also a lay Mustard Seed Missionary. It has been an inspiring and amazing journey. Blending business ethics with spiritual ethics makes one a complete person and this is the uniqueness of MSC."
