MSC: What is your role at Mustard Seed Communities?
AA: I am the volunteer coordinator and North Coast specialist.
MSC: What is your favorite thing about working at Mustard Seed?
AA: Working at Mustard Seed means being surrounded by the most amazing people. The residents in Jamaica, the international staff, the US staff, and our volunteers!
MSC: What is one tip you like to give mission teams/building teams?
AA: My favorite piece of advice is to let go of expectations. You have been called to serve and service does not always look the way you expect but trust that you are exactly where you are supposed to be. I also give this advice to myself almost every day!
MSC: Why do you work at Mustard Seed?
AA: It is impossible to have a bad day at Mustard Seed! The residents inspire me everyday and every day is easy when everything I do is for them.
MSC: Is there a resident who stands out in your mind?
Raheem at Sophie’s Place is the sweetest, snuggliest little love guy—my desk is covered in photos of him.
MSC: How has Mustard Seed been a blessing in your life?
AA: It would be nearly impossible to list all of the ways MSC has blessed me. Every day at Mustard Seed, I am given endless opportunities to serve the mission; working at MSC allows me to align my heart and my actions every day. How blessed is that?
MSC: If you could eat only one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
AA: Nachos!
MSC: What are some small things that make your day better?
AA: Smiling and coffee—all day!
