On a mission trip, there will be plenty of opportunity to make memories and experience awesome moments. Many mission volunteers have described their experiences with MSC as some of the most memorable they have ever had. Here are a few tips on how to make the most of your time at MSC.

Cut out technology

One of the best ways to fully experience your trip is to cut out any distractions that come with your phone. Challenge yourself to turn it off for the week! Doing this will allow you to devote your full attention to the people and things around you.

Take photos but don’t miss the moment

Photos are a great way to keep moments alive forever but don’t get too wrapped up in trying to take the perfect photo! Take time to put experience your surroundings and interactions without a camera. To avoid phone use or getting caught up in looking at the photos you are taking, bring a disposable camera and develop your photos after you get home.

Talk to everyone!

The residents and staff of MSC are all amazing individuals who each have stories and experiences to share. Take time during your trip to sit down with people and get to know them. This creates bonds that will last you long after your trip is over.

DR Mission TripStep out of your comfort zone

A mission trip is a great time to try new things! Immerse yourself in the culture of the country you are staying in by trying new foods, listening to new music, and talking to new people.

Keep a journal

During your week at MSC, you will have days that are jammed packed with fun and excitement! There will be so much going on that the thought of remembering everything may be a little overwhelming. A great way to make sure you save the memories you make is to bring a journal and write at the end of each day.

Take videos

Videos are a great way to capture memories. Assign team members a day to record your team! When you get home, have a team member edit all of the footage and put together a video that your team can share as a memory.

Give yourself time to rest

On your trip you will be very, very busy! It is important to make sure you stay healthy in order to get the most out of your experiences. Make sure you get enough sleep and stay hydrated so you have enough energy to fully participate in all of the activities.

We wish you the best of luck on your mission trip and hope that these tips will be helpful to you.
