Prayer is one of the most important and powerful ways that you can support Mustard Seed Communities.  An integral part of daily life at each of our communities, everyone participates.  From the children who attend prayers - to the caregivers, we have found prayer to be a powerful and necessary piece of daily life at Mustard Seed. We would love to pray for you and ask that you too pray for us and the work that we do each day.

We are God's Mustard Seeds

Oh Lord, We are your mustard seeds,
Oh so small and simple!
Help us to be generous
In giving to others by community,
Richly by our deeds.
We are your children,
Living richly by our poverty,
Help us to grow strongly,
That in giving to others by our chastity —
We may show others God’s perfect charity.
As the Lord foretold:
Thy mustard seed is the smallest of seeds,
But through Thy grace,
Thy seed will grow to the largest of plants,
Giving shelter to all.
In this way, as You have proclaimed
through Your beloved son,
We are all your children,
but humble and simple souls;
But through Thy tender and generous grade,
We might grow to be the noblest and
purest of souls,
Spreading God’s joy and giving love to all!


Christ in the Garbage Ministry Prayer

Dear Jesus,

Thank you for opening my eyes to the plight of my poorest neighbors who live and work in the garbage dump communities around the world.

Burn in me a desire to change this unthinkable situation by prompting me to pray, tell others and take action.

Take care of them today and always with nourishment for their body and soul.
Protect them from harm’s way.

I give you my life as well — and ask you to teach me what it means to adopt them as my own extended family.

Show me how to love them more deeply through caring, sharing and training; thereby giving them dignity and hope.  Use me Lord!  I am yours.
