The world we live in today is confusing and contradictory at times because of our seeming powerlessness to address the most pressing problems facing society today.
In a world, which has seen huge wealth created and huge advances in almost every social and scientific arena, we have also witnessed great poverty and starvation and the emergence of the drug problem and unemployment as major social economic and political issues.
Mustard Seed has seen the growth of these problems beyond the shores of its native Jamaica. For this reason the decision was taken to extend Mustard Seed's Caring, Sharing and Training ministries to other regions of the world in need.
Haiti became the first overseas location for one of Mustard Seed Communities new children's homes. In answer to a call for help, two of Mustard Seed Communities' caring staff went to Haiti with a couple of hundred dollars and a lease on a dilapidated building. Within a year, the new home was running, with Haitian staff.
With the success of the home in Haiti, Mustard Seed Communities has now opened homes in Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic and is currently constructing a home for AIDS orphans in Zimbabwe.
