Caring Sharing Training - Mustard Seed Communities
Ceramic Production

Ceramic Production is Mustard Seed's third income generating project and has been in operation for 12 years. Production has evolved from producing moulds in the early days, to the point where it now produces hand-thrown pieces using locally obtained earthenware clay.

Under the patronage of Jamaica's Master Potter Cecil Baugh, Mustard Seed's ceramic department produces a variety of uniquely made pieces. The hands of Patrick Hall and Devon Townsend craft each design.

The ceramics are sold at various shows throughout the island of Jamaica as well as abroad and they provide an opportunity to spread the message of Mustard Seed Communities through art.

Items can be custom-made to suit the desires of the customer. These unique and sometimes unusual items are very suitable gifts and can be used for practical purposes or simply for their ornamental beauty.

After overcoming the initial problems of how to ship the pieces without breakage, Mustard Seed has been able to sell the ceramics internationally.

From February 2001 it will be possible to purchase pottery from the MustardSeed.com website. This is expected to substantially increase the volume of sales currently enjoyed.

As with all profits sourced through Mustard Seed's income generating projects, the monies are used to improve the standard of living for the many poor and forgotten individuals under the care of Mustard Seed in Jamaica and other countries.
