Cain and Abel is essentially a community centre in downtown Kingston Jamaica, which runs a number of services open to the people of the local area.
A soup kitchen is one of the main services available here. Cain and Abel is also a place where children can come after school and find a quiet place to study. Mustard Seed "Golden Agers" also meet here to play dominos and pray.
Mustard Seed Communities now has plans to turn the facility into a community computer resource center where community members will be able to start learning computer skills and courses that are certified by the HEART Foundation, Jamaica's national training agency.
Currently, Mustard Seed are in the process of opening a new daycare center for children with disabilities at Cain and Abel.
As part of Mustard Seed Communities' goal of educating the public on the values of children with disabilities, this daycare center will be placed in the midst of this depressed community and encourage this same community to provide services for the children.
Frequently, Mustard Seed's plans for expansion are hampered because of a lack of staff and this is something that has thwarted efforts in the Cain and Abel project.
