Five acres of land some six miles outside Montego Bay have been donated to Mustard Seed by a generous local businessperson. On this land, a new children's home will be constructed.
When complete, the buildings will house 36 abandoned mentally and physically challenged children and 20 children who have contracted the HIV / AIDS virus. The site will also house volunteer quarters and a retreat centre.
Together with Murray Mount this home will address the problem of abandoned children with physical and mental disabilities in the northern half of Jamaica.
Construction is due to start in January 2001, other activities will include vegetable gardening and greeting card manufacture.
It is planned to market the products from the economic projects in the nearby tourist resorts of Montego Bay and Negril. Depending on funding, it is hoped that this home will be opened by the end of 2001.
