Moneague
Through the generosity of the ALCAN Bauxite Company, Mustard Seed Communities has been given 300 acres of land in Moneague. Moneague is a town between Kingston and Ocho Rios, its land is a blend of lush green hills and valleys.

As a result of the growing population of residents at MSC's existing homes, coupled with the fact that many who were once children when MSC started are now young adults, the need arose to provide alternative accommodation and lifestyle. Moneague will provide just that, with the establishment of small communities.

The Banana Tree

It will be used as yet another caring location where people with disabilities live in the community with people without disabilities. There will also be a large farming project with fish farming, livestock and fruit and vegetable gardens; and vocational training and retreat facilities.
Montego Bay
About one year ago a Jamaican land developer approached Mustard Seed Communities offering a donation of five acres of land in Montego Bay. Montego is the second largest city and is the tourist resort capital of Jamaica.

The land was accepted and through efforts from Mustard Seed's Atlanta Chapter (Friends of Mustard Seed Communities USA), we will be setting up another community where people with disabilities may live among people without disabilities. There will also be a retreat centre for our growing number of foreign visitors. This project is likely to get started in the New Year.

Dominican Republic
The Dominican Republic is a country that shares its landmass with Haiti. The problem with care for children with disabilities is similar to that of other developing countries.
Two homes are to be established in the Dominican Republic. One located in Puerto Plata and the other in San Francisco De Marcoris where, in both cases, buildings have been offered.
In January 2001, Mustard Seed missionaries will be sent to commence the initial work of repairs and renovations, establish community links, legal and bureaucratic procedures and identify the staff to employ and children to assist.
